Control over the public airwaves was a key feature in the Troubles and looks set to play a similar role in the fight against populism in years to come, as RTÉ’s recent submission to the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland (BAI) attests.
The submission (suspiciously scrubbed from the BAI website) was obtained by The Burkean and reveals a conscious effort by the state broadcaster to alter the rules on election reporting, likely to stack the deck against populist outsiders as well as to lobby for the gnarliest of hate speech legislation imaginable.
A strategically important but oft forgotten agency, the BAI functions as an Irish equivalent of the British Ofcom or the American FCA, regulating and setting the tone on broadcasting nationwide. Many progressives have previously appealed to the BAI to implement hate speech rulings even without British style legislation on the books.
Accused by some of engaging in a power grab with the advent of hate speech legislation, the BAI has found itself as the financial alms giver to struggling media outlets with the government’s covid support schemes.
Written as part of the BAI’s review of its strategy statement, the authority’s pro-hate speech outlook was articulated in a 2019 document.
Some of the pertinent points from the RTÉ submission to the organization are as follows.
- Changes to Rule 27 governing the amount of airtime given to a political party, granting the broadcaster more discretion as well as to favour past electoral performance over levels of support for a given party. Aiming to reduce the chances of litigation, these changes arguably present another barrier to smaller or outsider parties.
- Support for the Online Safety and Media Regulation Bill with a particular focus on the aspects of the Bill focusing on clamping down on hate speech. The submission positively remarks on Garda Commissioner Drew Harris’s support for a wide definition of hate speech that prioritises the victim’s perception over more objective measures.
- An addition to the BAI’s Programme of Standards to better cover issues like racial discrimination. Quoting from the submission,’the BAI should reflect more forcefully provisions relating to hate speech’
- That the BAI would better cater for the rights and complaints of minority groups in order to ‘ensure any harmful or prejudicial language is not allowed or legitimised through use in the media’
The broadcaster’s rather excessive pro-diversity outlook was further outlined in a 2021 report on diversity in the media as well as RTÉ’s own policy documents on promoting multiculturalism in their broadcasting.
Outlining a rather arbitrary system of screen time for victim groups, the broadcaster aims for full 50/50 gender balance as well as a minimum of 10% of those on air being from a non-Irish background.
Spearheaded by Polish born diversity guru Dr Zbyszek Zalinski, who has taken up the mantle of ‘Diversity and Inclusion Lead’ at RTÉ, these moves have been the cause of eye rolling for critics of the state broadcaster for some time.
For decades nearly monopolising broadcasting with a rather distinctive anti-Catholic, anti-republican brand of upper middle class liberalism, the artificial embrace of Anglo inspired multicultural dogma ought come as little surprise to perennial critics of Donnybrook.
With falling rates of profit in a fast changing media marketplace lets hope the days of a media white elephant like RTÉ remain numbered.
Overall this act of lobbying pushing for less Irish people on air merely enshrines current practices, as well as a worldview endemic within the broadcaster since its inception.
“Hate speech” is a lying concept to begin with. The left doesn’t learn, except in a tactical sense. It gets better at shoving its evil forward each time it gets rebuffed; it just doesn’t learn that it actually IS evil. “Hate speech” is just it’s latest tactical foray against the public. Nobody can coherently argue the case for the left because it’s a complete crock, so they come up with “hate speech” to shut opponents up. ANY speech which argues against the left is “hate speech”.
Why 8% with a disability? Is that reflecting the general population? Applicants with a disability should get a fair chance but odd to insist that is is reflective. Will RTÉ have to have a representative number of people with speech impediments too?

The “state broadcaster” and their programs around news/politics is very dumbed down. Their programming in general is based around pushing “Globalist Ideolgues” into the minds of the common citizens on a weekly evening schedule.
They feed off the tax payers money, but act and smirk like they are better than the common working class who are their bread and butter. The “state broadcaster” is a “Globalist Monologue. People go to sleep, having consumed “monologue media” from the “globalist state broadcaster” that is a total echo chamber, with the smirks from their presenters dressed in designer clothes funded by the tax payer. The MEDIA from that echo chamber are used as a base for societal conversation and affect culture in general in huge ways. They don’t even question the crap they are pushing around nanoparticle clot shots!
They limit peoples “critical thinking skills. There is consistently a massive lack of “critical thinking” from their presenters and the guests that they air on their programs. There is massive bias, massive ignorance, so much bias, that when viewed from an objective perspective, it can be described as an “echo chamber” for “globalist agendas” being pushed continously, many of which undermine irish sovereignty, nationalism and independence.
Uncontrolled mass-immigration for example creates a monoculture society, it is designed to bring in a ONE WORLD MONOCULTURE GOVERNMENT. That creates a lack of diversity and undermines sovereignty. If mass immigration continues on its current path in Ireland, the gaeltacht regions will be no more, because PROPERTY will be limited and OVERPRICED!
It seems it is more important for “irish globalist politicans” to be more concerned with milking the tax payers money for their own needs, whilst also getting rubbed on the back by “foreign globalists” for signing Ireland up to the “Globalist agendas” from overarching governing bodies like the EU,UN and WHO which are all funded by “foreign globalists” that push what THEY WANT through those structures of control, the hymn sheets from which the gombeen irish politicans sing from. The structures that the “state broadcaster” and irish politicans in general cling to, like a bee to honey.
The irish electorate would want to wake up, start forming alternative political opposition, start forming community groups, that can launch new political apparatus that can challenge the sell outs politically.
How is seeking to achieve zero emissions good for the common irish citizens? Last time people checked, the sun still rises in the morning, and sets in the evening. It will continue to do so, nothing suggests otherwise. The birds will sing, the fields will stay green so to speak. Scaremongering HORSESHIT! is what the climate cult is.
You will own nothing and be happy? Get the rare occasional treat? Lines coming from an old fart dressed as a BOND villain. Eating insects? Eating estrogen plant burgers? Synthethic GMO foods?
It sounds like a CLIMATE CHANGE FOR MORE COMMUNISM. They may fool some, but they won’t fool everyone.

Now, back to that “state broadcaster” again, they have some cheek to be talking about “hate speech” when they bring on guests that demand that a minority of people who DO NOT ALLOW THEMSELVES TO BE INJECTED WITH mRNA NANOTECHNOLOGY/LIPID NANOPARTICLES from big pharma are somehow a danger to their health and others. People have a basic human right to choose what goes into their body. If some want to allow themselves to be injected with creepy “Lipid Nanoparticles” in vials then go ahead.
But don’t dare try to force or coerce WHAT GOES INTO YOUR BODY on other people who are more health concious and do not trust products manufactured by big pharma which are given indemnity.
If they were 100% safe? Then why is their a need for indemnity? Why are there adverse reactions in the MILLIONS? Deaths in the thousands? That is only of the official stats are to be believed, it could be much higher! That is only short term. What is the long term damage? And why are nanoparticles in those clot-shots? WHY?
